Shelf Tag Generator
Generate retail shelf price tags with barcodes, unit pricing, sale and produce templates, and batch Avery sheet printing.
Shelf Tag Generator
Create professional shelf-rail price tags for grocery and retail stores. Enter product name, price, unit price, barcode (UPC-A, EAN-13, Code 128, ITF-14), PLU code, and optional logo. Choose from four tag templates: standard, large, sale (with strikethrough pricing), and produce (PLU-focused with origin). Add products individually or batch-import from CSV. Print single tags or full Avery-compatible label sheets. Export tags as PNG. Your product list saves to your browser — your data never leaves your machine.

What Are Shelf Tags?
Shelf tags are the small price labels displayed on retail shelf rails below each product. They communicate the product name, retail price, unit price (price per ounce, per pound, or per count), and a scannable barcode. In the United States, most states require unit pricing on shelf tags so consumers can compare value across different package sizes. A well-formatted shelf tag reduces pricing errors, speeds restocking, and helps customers make informed purchasing decisions.
Tag Templates
This tool includes four tag templates for common retail scenarios. The standard tag fits most shelf-rail holders at 2.5″ × 1.25″. The large tag provides more space for branding and longer product names. The sale tag highlights a promotional price with the regular price shown as a strikethrough. The produce tag features the PLU code prominently alongside the country of origin — the format most shoppers see in the fresh produce department.
Batch Printing and Automation
For larger tag runs, paste a CSV of products to import them all at once, then print the full set on Avery-compatible label sheets. For automated shelf tag generation driven by POS item files, price changes, or promotion schedules, I build custom label integrations. See grocery and retail services or explore custom application development. Also see the Large Sign Generator for sale signs and department headers, or the Barcode Explorer for barcode generation and scanning.
