Data Profiler
Profile CSV data with column-level statistics, value distribution charts, quality matrix, and drill-down column detail.
Data Profiler
Paste or upload CSV/TSV data to explore column-level statistics across three views: Summary (type, nulls, unique, min/max, mean, median, standard deviation), Column Detail (drill-down with value frequency distribution bars, completeness/uniqueness metrics), and Quality Matrix (per-column completeness, uniqueness, and consistency scores with visual bars — spot data issues at a glance). Essential for data migration assessment, ETL planning, and pre-import audits. Export the full profile as CSV, Excel, or JSON with column statistics, value distributions, and quality scores all included. Everything runs in your browser — your data never leaves your machine.

What Is Data Profiling?
Data profiling is the process of examining a dataset to understand its structure, content, and quality. For each column, profiling reveals the detected data type (numeric, date, boolean, text), how many values are null or empty, how many unique values exist, the minimum and maximum values, string length distributions, and sample values. This information answers fundamental questions: Is this column suitable as a key? Are there unexpected nulls? Do dates follow a consistent format? Are there outlier values that indicate data quality problems? Profiling turns an unknown dataset into a documented, understood one.
Why Profile Before You Migrate
Data migration projects that skip profiling inevitably run into surprises — columns assumed to be numeric contain text values, dates use inconsistent formats, supposedly unique identifiers have duplicates, and nullable columns contain far more nulls than expected. Profiling the source data before designing the migration reveals these issues early, when they can be addressed in the mapping and transformation logic rather than discovered during testing or, worse, in production. This tool provides instant column-level statistics for CSV and TSV data, giving you a clear picture of what you are working with.
Migration Assessment Services
This tool profiles individual files for quick assessment. After profiling, use Data Diff & Compare to compare two versions of the same dataset — useful for validating that a transformation preserved the expected values. If your data starts as fixed-width or positional format, the Fixed-Width ↔ CSV Converter and Delimiter Converter get it into a shape this tool can profile. For enterprise-scale migration projects — profiling hundreds of tables across IBM i, mainframe, or legacy database systems — I conduct comprehensive data assessments that catalog every table and column, identify data quality issues, document type mappings, flag transformation requirements, and produce a detailed migration plan.
